Helicopter crashes on hospital during takeoff

Minor injuries reported today as a helicopter crashes onto the hospital it was trying to land on.  There were no passengers on boad this aircraft as it was a training exersise.

Both people aboard the helicopter were able to excape before it caught fire.  They are reportedly doing just fine.

It is always amazing to me that we do not see more of these type of stories in the news.  Pilots are some of the highest trained people in their field but intuitively I feel like flying in general is dangerous.  Now please don’t read this and freak out - I know that it is actually a very safe way to travel.  I am just saying that when you take tons of steel and hurl it hundreds of miles per hour hundreds of feet in the air, there is a certain amount of danger that goes with it.

That goes for any commercial or private flight, as well as for space travel.  I am amazed everytime a shuttle is able to not only get into space but come back from space.

I am certainly glad we still have people that are good at their jobs.  Pilots, thank you for taking our and your safety seriously!
